Evidence backed launch video

Turns a product URL into a rendered MP4 launch video where every frame traces back to the real site, and says so.

Read the full description

It captures the page once (screenshots, visible copy, brand colours), builds the cut from that evidence, renders it, and prints a ledger naming the source of every frame. In evidence mode it will not write a word the site does not publish, and will not put the same words on screen twice: a beat with no backing of its own is omitted and reported, never filled with a plausible tagline and never padded by repeating copy an earlier frame already showed, which matters because a site whose title equals its first heading is the normal case rather than the exception. Illustrative mode allows generic placeholder copy and marks each one INVENTED in the same ledger. A launch video is the one artifact where invention is the norm and an invented claim is indistinguishable from a real one once it is on screen; this makes that difference checkable. Writes only inside the output directory you name, uploads nothin

Before you run it2 local tools

Everything here is checked on your machine when rote inspects the play. This page never learns what you have installed or which credentials you hold.

  • ○
    python3local tool

Requires >=3.8. Run rote play inspect to check your host; unverified versions remain unknown.

  • ○
    npxlocal tool

Must be on your PATH when used. minimum version undeclared.

Inputs6, all optional

rote asks for these before running and shows the defaults it will use.

  • Urlurl

The product page to build the video from, including https://. This is the only source of truth the video may draw on in evidence mode. Leave it out and a small demo page is used, which yields a deliberately thin cut: the beats it cannot back are omitted and listed, which is the whole point of the play.

    optionalstringexample https://example.comcustom value allowed
  • Outout

Absolute path to a directory for the capture, the composition and the MP4. It is created if missing. Leave it out and it lands under ~/launch-video/<site>, never in the play run workspace, which is deleted when the run ends.

    optionalstringexample /Users/me/launch-videocustom value allowed
  • Durationduration

Target length in seconds, 5 to 180. Beats are divided evenly across whatever frames the evidence supports, so a thin site yields a shorter honest cut rather than a padded one.

    optionalstringdefault 30example 30custom value allowed
  • Modemode

`evidence` omits any beat the site does not back, which is the point of this play. `illustrative` fills those beats with generic placeholder copy and labels each one INVENTED in the ledger.

    optionalstringdefault evidenceexample evidencecustom value allowed
  • Musicmusic

Absolute path to an audio file to lay under the cut, trimmed to length with a fade at each end. Leave it out and the cut is silent, which the report states outright rather than leaving you to find on playback. You supply the track, so its licence stays yours.

    optionalstringexample /Users/you/Music/bed.mp3custom value allowed
  • Qualityquality

`draft`, `standard` or `high`. Draft renders in about a minute for a 30s cut; high is materially slower.

Credential values and current readiness remain local. Opening this page never prompts for a credential, opens an authorization browser, or calls a service this play uses.

A play is a published, versioned automation package that runs on your own machine through rote, a free command-line tool. Opening this page installs nothing and runs nothing.
